Poem #33

The Stories I'm From I am from White Bird, from the power of kindness and courage as a Jewish girl during WWII in Natzi occupied France. I am from Harry Potter (thrilling, suspenseful, it encouraged me to never give up on my dreams) I am from The Outsiders, the character, Pony Boy, whose actions affected himself and those he cared about. I am from life haunted by tragedy and seeking justice from To Catch a Killer Erin and Rachel. I’m from perseverance and the ones willing to endure and overcome hardships from A Series of Unfortunate Events. I’m from Where the Red Fern Grows with resolve and persisting when life seems hopeless. I’m from Anne, Margot, Otto and Edith, isolation and loneliness. From other’s actions causing suffering to overcome a notice for being taken away, a close call and a sense of fear the pages of The Diary Of A Young Girl keeping me up late at night. Under each book on my TBR pile was another book calling my name a fantastic story that will whisk me away to pull me into the pages. I am from those stories- and so many more- awaiting me on the bookshelf.
